Privacy

Short version: no accounts, no email, no ad tracking.

What stays on your device

Your game progress, your streak, and a random ID are stored in your browser's local storage. The random ID is generated on your device, isn't linked to your name or email, and exists so the same puzzle isn't recorded twice for you. Clearing your browser data erases all of it, including your streak.

What the server records

When you finish a puzzle, we store the moves you made, whether you solved it, and how many turns you used, alongside that random device ID. That's what makes the archive show which puzzles you've played.

We also keep running totals for each puzzle — how many people started it, finished it, and solved it, and how often each answer was picked. Those totals are counters only. They contain no identifier of any kind, so they can't be traced back to anyone. They exist to tell us which puzzles are too hard and which answers are commonly confused, so the coaching points can be written better.

Visitor analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they land on. It is cookieless and does not follow you across other websites — it records a page view with rough details like country, browser and whether you came from a link somewhere else, and never builds a profile of you or stores anything that identifies you.

We use it to know whether anyone is actually finding the site. Vercel's analytics privacy policy has the full detail.

What we don't do

No accounts, no email addresses, no advertising, no cross-site or cross-device tracking, no selling data to anyone, and no cookies for marketing. The only cookie the site sets is for signing in to the private admin page, which is for the site owner.

YouTube

Film clips are embedded from YouTube, so loading a puzzle contacts Google's servers and is covered by Google's privacy policy. We use YouTube's standard embedded player and don't receive any personal information from it.

Removing your data

Clearing your browser data removes everything held on your device. To have your recorded results deleted from the server, get in touch and we'll remove them — though without your device ID we may not be able to tell which rows are yours, since nothing links them to you personally.
